The Whole Mix Grab n Go Salads & Snack Pot Salads manufactured by Speirs Foods LP (2018) recalled

20th March 2020: Speirs Foods is recalling The Whole Mix Grab n Go Salads & Snack Pot Salads as Listeria was detected in an ingredient which enters these products.

All salads with Use by dates from 20th March to the 22nd March 2020 are being recalled after routine testing returned a positive detection of Listeria monocytogenes in an ingredient which enters these products.

The product is packaged as in the picture, a bowl or pot with a plastic lid and cardboard sleeve, they are sold in supermarkets throughout New Zealand.


Speirs Foods Manager Director, Ross Kane said the company learned of the contamination and immediately took steps to recall the products from the market.

“We emphasise that this issue is isolated and that we take the health and safety of our customers very seriously, we thank you for your understanding and apologise for any inconvenience”, says Kane.

Consumer advice

Customers are asked to check the date marking printed on the products.

The affected products should not be consumed. There have been no reports of illness, however, if you have consumed any of these products and have any concerns about your health, seek medical advice.

Customers should return the products to their retailer for a full refund.

Listeria is a bacteria commonly found in soil and water and some animals. It can grow at refrigeration temperatures. If consumed, it can be harmful to ‘vulnerable’ people such as children under five years of age, adults over 65, pregnant women and people with compromised immune systems.
